Is A DC Crossover Coming To Fortnite Season 5?

While Epic Games in the middle of its "epic" Marvel-themed Chapter 2 Season 4, Fortnite fans are already looking at what comes next. We already know there's some DC content coming as part of "The Last Laugh" bundle, but is this just the start of a whole new comic book crossover?
Although November's "The Last Laugh" bundle will only bring the Joker and Poison Ivy to the map, there are obvious questions about where the rest of Batman's rogues are and whether the Caped Crusader himself will come swooping back into the battle royale behemoth.
A Fortnite DC crossover is nothing new considering we've seen the likes of Harley Quinn make their mark on the game in the past. You might also remember when Gotham City replaced Tilted Town as part of Season 10. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be as Gotham and its residents were sucked into the black hole as part of "The End" event.
The Harley Quinn event was to promote Birds of Prey - explaining why Mr. J was missing in action - but remember there are no DC movies coming in November.
Who's afraid of the big bad?

When it comes to who could appear in a DC season, it makes sense that Batman joins the party alongside Joker and Poison Ivy. Elsewhere, other members of the Justice League would have to make an appearance. Aquaman might sit this one out given the fact he was a big part of Season 3. Superman is another logical choice, while the upcoming release of Wonder Woman 1984 means Diana Prince should pop up.
Finally, the fact the Watchmen are part of the expanded DC family could see Doctor Manhattan bash his blue butt into action. In terms of villains, it just wouldn't be DC without the chrome dome of Lex Luthor or fellow Superman foe Braniac flexing their bulging brainpower. As for the big bad, it's easy to imagine Darkseid filling a role similar to the one Galactus has in Season 4.
Other skins that could appear include everyone from Green Lantern to Martian Manhunter, Hawkman to Batgirl, Red Hood to Black Manta. With DC's history introducing just as many characters as Marvel, they could bring in some serious dollar for those who want to collect them all in Fortnite. Then again, haven't we literally just seen all this before?
The Joker's on you

The problem is, would Epic really deliver two back-to-back comic book events? Even the Marvel collab has received some flak for accusations that Epic has sold out. Fortnite might be known for its pop culture crossovers, but there have been complaints it's too reliant on chucking Marvel and DC skins our way.
Don't get us wrong, we'd love to see Gotham City, Metropolis, Themyscira, and all the other DC haunts being spat out onto the map, but it just doesn't seem that likely. It's important to remember DC is stereotypically held as being a much darker world of heroes and villains - which doesn't flow with Fortnite's usually cheery vibe.
Still, we could be completely wrong and the end of Season 4 might see Galactus' plan come to fruition and the event to end all events to combine both comic book powerhouses. Even though we're not quite sure how this would work in terms of rights, DC and Marvel have crossed over in the comics before. Also, Fortnite has never been afraid to pull the rug from underneath its players.
An 'Epic' move

If Epic wanted to follow in the footsteps of Season X, bringing Marvel and DC together would be one hell of a way to do it. That being said, Season 5 is only the midpoint when compared to Chapter 1. A more logical route to take would be teasing a DC crossover with "The Last Laugh" and seeing Galactus return alongside someone like Darkseid for Chapter 2 Season 10.
Even if we don't see the Justice League setting up shop with the Hall of Justice in the middle of some snow-capped mountains, the idea is still there. Who wouldn't want to dress in Superman's iconic black suit or swoop down in a campy Batman outfit from the '60s? Sure, there's some DC content on the way in Season 5, just probably not a full-blown season based in its own universe. For now, we'll have to resign the Batmobile to the Batcave and guess the Invisible Jet will remain invisible for the time being.
