Fortnite Season 4: Where To Find Jetpacks?

Epic Games is blasting off to new (well, old) heights as Jetpacks make their welcome return in the latest patch. While Jetpacks were a big talking point when they first soared over the map as part of the 4.2 Content Update in 2018, they were a relatively short-lived addition and eventually vaulted.

Given the popularity of pretending we're James Bond in Thunderball, Jetpacks were unvalued during "The Final Showdown" event and have popped up for just three days at a time since.

With the Marvel-themed Chapter 2 Season 4 heading toward its own (Avengers) endgame, Jetpacks are back and will allow you to be your very own Robert Downey Jr./Iron Man. November 3's 14.50 Patch has secured Fortnite for the imminent drop of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as heralding the expected return of Jetpacks - albeit briefly. So where can you find the jetpacks in Fortnite?

Where can you find Jetpacks in Fortnite?

The addition of Tony Stark's tinkering isn't too much of a surprise considering sound files for an Iron Man jetpack were leaked in the v14.40. Now, Epic has confirmed what's going on in Fortnite. Although the company no longer releases full patch notes, an email sent to those on the game's creator programme reads as follows: "We saw a lot of skybase attempt crumble during Fortnitemares; and Stark Industries has a solution. Black off with new and improved Jetpacks found throughout the island".

Now that the servers are live, the first Jetpack footage has started making its way online. It's unclear exactly where you can currently find the Jetpack in Fortnite, however, the suggestion is they won't just be confined to Stark Industries like Iron Man's Unibeam and Repulsor Gauntlets. We're also not sure how the Jetpack will work this time around, but expect some tweaks to how they previously did.

Jetpacks will presumably have a limited capacity for fuel and could be prone to overheating/cooldown periods. Unless the game has introduced Iron Man's vibranium, don't think you'll be able to hover around the map for the entire match. Either way, the addition of Jetpacks and Choppas means there are even more ways to fly around the map and engage in aerial madness.

What else is new in the update?

For those who haven't noticed, the update has come out earlier than expected. This is presumably to ensure Fortnite is ready for next-gen consoles. Speaking of which, the email adds, "14.50 readies Fortnite on next-gen hardware with faster loading times, dynamic visuals and physics, and 4K resolution at 60 FPS". While Fortnite will still continue to be a big hit on current-gen consoles, Epic is looking to the future.

Alongside the chance to win a Ghost Rider skin as part of the next chapter of the “Marvel Knockout Super Series" there's also an XP Extravaganza. You're encouraged to make the most of the challenges to earn extra XP and polish off your Battle Pass. The email tells you to make sure you're ready to take on Galactus in "mint condition", meaning now could be the perfect time to get that foil skin you've had your eye on like a magpie.

Unfortunately, not everything is running smoothly. Due to some "issues", Epic has delayed the PlayStation 4 update until a "later date". Whoops. For those who have managed to update, let's not pretend that Jetpacks aren't what we're most interested in. It will be interesting to see how long they stick around for and whether they'll be an integral part of trying to stop Galactus from devouring the map.
