Fortnite Challenges — some players love ‘em and some players hate ‘em. Regardless of how you personally feel about them, challenges are here to stay. Challenges provide a break from the action and give players something to work toward as the season progresses. Additionally, completing challenges is essential to levelling up the Battle Pass and unlocking all of the sweet new skins and styles.

Take a look at our Challenge Guide below for an in-depth breakdown of each challenge and the best course of action for completing them.

Fortnite Challenges Week 1

Damage Loot Sharks at Sweaty Sands (200) – 35,000 XP

For this challenge, players will need to deal 200 damage to sharks while at the Sweaty Sands POI. This challenge can be completed in any of the standard game modes, including Team Rumble. We suggest dropping in at Sweaty Sands, grabbing a mid to long-range weapon, and quickly proceeding toward the shoreline. Locate a shark and inflict a quick 200 damage before you attract the attention of other players.

Deal Damage Within 10s of Landing From the Whirlpool at Hydro 16 (1) – 35,000 XP

This is one of those challenges that require a bit of luck or RNG. Players will need to inflict damage on another player within 10 seconds of landing via the Whirlpool at Hydro 16. Hydro 16 is an unnamed POI just northwest of Misty Meadows. It is now submerged in water and a Whirlpool has formed in its place.

This challenge is most easily completed in a Team Rumble match where the circle closes near or around Hydro 16. Players should scout out the area in and around Hydro 16. Once a player has been located, quickly enter the Whirlpool and fly after them. Make sure to inflict at least a single shot of damage. Voila — challenge complete.

Fortnite Challenges Week 1

Enter Catty Corner Vault – 35,000 XP

Catty Corner is home to Meowscles’ son, Kit. Kit patrols the POI, similar to the Agents of Season 2, defending it from invaders. Tracking down and eliminating Kit will reward two new Mythic items and the Catty Corner Keycard. Keep in mind, there will be other AI Marauders in the area and likely other players as well.

The straightforward way to complete this challenge is to retrieve the Keycard yourself and open the vault. However, there is another method if you are more of a pacifist.

One can simply enter the vault after it has already been opened. Doing this will complete the challenge just the same. Consider landing somewhere outside of Catty Corner but within walking distance. Take your time, loot up and make your way to Catty Corner. If you're lucky, most if not all of the AI will have been defeated and the vault will have been opened by another player or team. Just like that, challenge complete - without any unnecessary havoc and stress.

The Catty Corner Vault is located to the northwest of the POI. The vault is on the ground floor of a structure, facing north. If it makes it easier, look at the “TY” part of “CATTY” on the mini-map. The vault is located right between the two letters.

Eliminations at Steamy Stacks (3) – 35,000 XP

Three kills at Steamy Stacks, not much to this challenge. The most important part is that you go for it early. These elimination challenges tend to be most active early in the week. Wait too long, and you may end up landing at the location and not finding anyone to kill. Wednesday or Thursday however, the location should be packed with potential kills.

Fortnite Challenges Week 1

Search Chests or Ammo Boxes at Rickety Rig (7) – 35,000 XP

Here, you will want to deploy the opposite strategy of the above challenge. Searching Chests and Ammo Boxes early in the week is always a pain. Everyone wants to get it out of the way and the POI ends up becoming super contested. You may only find one or two unopened chests/ammo boxes per trip.

Consider saving this challenge for last. By the time you get to it, things likely will have cooled down and you can get all seven chests/ammo boxes in a single trip.

Land at Misty Meadows and Finish Top 25 (1) – 35,000 XP

One of the easier challenges. No weapon restrictions, nothing to kill, just land Misty Meadows and survive. The safest way to complete this would be to land Misty Meadows, loot up quickly and get out of there. Avoid enemy players at all costs. Proceed to make your way south to the secluded mountains. Hang out around the edge of the storm, keeping an eye out for enemies. Save an unexpected mishap, and this should be enough to get top 25 and a cool 35,000 XP bonus.

Find Gnomes at Homely Hills (3) – 35,000 XP

Just northwest of Pleasant Park is the unnamed POI of Homely Hills. There are a total of five gnomes in the area, but you only need to find three. At the end of almost every dirt path should be a home and a gnome.

Fortnite Challenges Week 1

Aquaman Challenge: Use A Whirlpool at The Fortilla

Similar to last season’s Deadpool Challenges, we have the Aquaman Challenges. Completing the challenges will unlock Chapter 2 - Season 3’s secret skin, Aquaman. Not so secret after all.

Ease your way into things with this first challenge; it’s about as easy as they come. Wait until you are within distance of The Fortilla and jump out of the Battle Bus. Dive straight into the Whirlpool in the centre and you will get the notification of a complete challenge. Good job!
