Former Employees Accuse Mr Beast Of 'Bullying'
When it comes to the stars of YouTube, few are quite as revered and respected as Jimmy “Mr Beast” Donaldson. The content creator is well-known for his charitable acts, huge sensationalist ideas, and mastery of the YouTube algorithm, but most importantly, he’s greatly known for his general kindness. He’s a creator who always puts fans first, and is popular among other YouTubers for simply being a nice guy. But, his credentials as a friendly face have been brought into question by allegations from his former employees.
Why Has Mr Beast Been Accused of Bullying?
In a report from the New York Times, interviews were conducted with some of Mr Beast’s ex-editors, who have asserted that he was a bully while they were under his employment. Nate Anderson, a 22-year-old who edited for Mr Beast for only a week, stated that Donaldson was an extreme perfectionist and that he brought unreasonable demands to the cutting room. “Nothing ever worked for him”, said Anderson. “He always wanted it a certain way”.
He uploaded a video detailing his stress when working with Mr Beast, which has brought a slew of death threats towards him from Donaldson’s fans.
Further Mr Beast Accusations
But interestingly, he isn’t the first to speak up about Mr Beast’s engagement in potentially 'toxic' work environments. Another previous editor for Donaldson, Matt “Turnur” Turner has made similar claims in the past, declaring him a bully, and accusing him of using slurs that demean those with mental disabilities.
Mr Beast responded to these claims on DramaAlert by stating that he’d given the editor a massive $10,000 severance payment and helped him secure another job, but he is yet to respond to these latest accusations.
If these allegations are to be believed, there’s a very real possibility that Jimmy’s “nice guy” persona could be in serious trouble. As is often the case with YouTube stars, the real people behind the videos are different from the ones we see on-screen. The accusations have the potential to severely dampen the once-rigid friendly brand of Mr Beast.
