Byrem, Kris, Karayan, and Sayaplayer will be leaving the Mayhem.
All good things must come to an end. After a breakout season that finally saw the once worst performing franchise in the Overwatch League during season 1 and season 2 come to life, the Florida Mayhem will be parting ways with four of their players. As the organisation announced yesterday, the players Seong-ju "Byrem" Leem, Jun-soo "Kris" Choe, San-ha "Karayan" Choi and Jung-woo "Sayaplayer" Ha will be leaving the team this year.
Following the stream of highly skilled mechanical players making the switch from Overwatch to VALORANT, Sayaplayer has joined esports organisation T1 on their South Korean VALORANT team. He has also announced that he has renamed to "Spyder". Spyder had played with the Mayhem since 2018, earning a reputation as a top tier Widowmaker, sporting impressive headshot percentage accuracy rates and duelling success. Over the last couple of years, health issues had kept Spyder from competing with the Mayhem consistently, only playing 35 minutes for Florida this season.
Kris had been a staple on the main support position for his team this season, playing almost twenty hours during season 3, only missing play during double flex support metas. Both Byrem and Karayan had been used as substitute players only needed for about four hours this season in specific metas.
The Mayhem celebrated their best year in Overwatch League history yet, finishing in sixth place in the overall regular season and getting to the finals of the May Melee tournament. In the North American playoff bracket, the Mayhem lost to the Valiant and the Justice, putting them in fourth place in the North American region.
