First Vanguard Zombies Map Details Leaked

Ever since it was announced that Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Zombies mode would be helmed by Treyarch and serve as an extension to the story of Black Ops Cold War, excitement for its arrival has been rampant.

Fears set in with every subsequent Call of Duty title that Zombies will be misunderstood or guided according to the studio’s idea of what the mode should be - but thankfully, we don’t have to worry about it this time around.

And now, we have our first peek at what we can expect of Vanguard’s Zombies mode - and it looks to be a return to form.

What is the Name Of The First Vanguard Zombies Map?

Notorious leaker Okami Games has made a bold suggestion on Twitter, revealing the rumoured name of the very first Zombies map coming to Vanguard. That very name is Ritual of the Dead.

Interestingly, though, this isn’t the only name doing the rounds on Twitter. Another leaker, TheMW2Ghost, has suggested that the title is instead War of the Dead.

Though similar, these two titles imply two very different Zombies experiences, so it’ll be interesting to see how they play out in-game.

What Do The Rumoured Zombies Map Names Mean?

War of the Dead implies something quite simple, and more of a return to form for Treyarch - a simple zombie-slaying romp, facing off against hordes of the undead as ever in order to get fans comfortable with the way that Zombies will operate in Vanguard.

However, the other title, Ritual of the Dead, implies something very different. Given the time period, and the suggestion that this Zombies mode will serve as a prequel to Black Ops Cold War, the title hints that we’ll see something occur at the very start of the zombie outbreak.

Could we see the zombies being created in real-time, or will we fight on a battleground that saw a religious ritual happen on its grounds before our arrival?

Only time will tell what shape the Vanguard Zombies mode will take, but these two rumoured titles suggest that we don’t have any reason to worry about it. Zombies, as we know it, is (thankfully) coming back.
