Fantastic Four Game Rumoured From Uncharted Creator
Marvel has certainly had its fair share of video game success recently. What with the huge hit that was Guardians of The Galaxy - and the hype surrounding the upcoming Spider-Man 2 - Marvel is well on the way to establishing its very own video game universe.
So, it's no surprise that rumours began to circulate about another Marvel video game currently being in the works. It was later confirmed that a new Marvel AAA game was on the way from Skydance Media, but just exactly which comic book superhero would be jumping from page to console was very much a mystery.
Is There A Fantastic Four Game On The Way?
During a recent FatMan Beyond podcast with Kevin Smith, Marc Bernardin, who has worked on various DC and Marvel comics, has caused a flurry of speculation and debate from fans. For many, the information from the podcast appears to suggest that the upcoming Skydance title is a Fantastic Four video game. Although, as always, it's important to take this information with a pinch of salt.
A Fantastic Four game is currently rumoured to be in development from Skydance New Media. We know for sure that the game studio is teaming up with Marvel to create a new AAA story-driven action-adventure, however, the post didn't specify which Marvel material was being adapted into a video game. It's already confirmed that Marvel's Midnight Suns is on the way, yet it could be a bit of a wait.
In the podcast with co-host Smith, Bernardin said he was working as a writer for the upcoming game, which led to fans flooding the comments with their speculations as to exactly which Marvel-lous title the game could be. Smith, who does know what the game will be, responded by saying that the fans had guessed the games straight away - which is interesting because the most popular choices was Fantastic Four. However, another big name from the comments was Ant-Man.
Throwing fuel on the fire, MinnMax founder Ben Hanson claimed his money is on Fantastic Four. Yet, this prompted a good amount of responses from fans who suspect the game could be about the Ant-Man himself, Scott-Lang. As one fan said: "Antman is the best choice here...".
Who Is Working On The New Marvel Game?
Marvel announced that video game director and script-writer Amy Hennig - one of the creators behind Naughty Dog's Uncharted game franchise - will be in charge of the game. Speaking about the project, Hennig said: "The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience.
"It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love." As revealed in the podcast, Bernardin, is, also, attached to the project as a writer.
Skydance New Media may not have many huge video game titles to its name just yet, but it has plenty of film and television titles to boost. Not to mention, with such renowned video game legends like Hennig as the president of Skydance's new media division and Julian Bleak as Vice President Executive and General Manager, there are certainly some exciting things to come from the studio.
