It isn't just the crown that's shining in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout as players are tooling up to win a grand prize of $5,000. While Mediatonic's bouncy battle royale game started out life as a viral title, things have progressed and the title is continuing to gather momentum in the world of esports.

Following on from the announcement that Twitch Rivals is hosting its first Fall Guys tournament, casual players can now nab a cash prize courtesy of those little beans.

Fallmania was officially announced on Twitter and has a confirmed start date of August 27. Famous speedrunner and streamer "GrandPooBear" dropped the news, so you can expect they'll be taking part in the tournament. With Fall Guys having shifted well over 8 million copies and topping League of Legends as the most-streamed game on Twitch, the game has continued to climb the competitive mountain of battle royale gaming.

Bearing in mind that Fall Guys whittles down 60 players to just one, we're expecting whoever gets to the crown first to take home the whole $5,000. There's an official Fallmania sign up sheet, proving that literally anyone can enter. Although some of the big names that have already been duking it out are sure to take part, any Tom, Dick, or Harry from around the world can reach the top.

Speaking to LADbible, senior level designer Megan Ralph explained how Fall Guys was never designed with a professional edge in mind. "I'm glad we didn't approach any of the design from a competitive perspective", said Ralph. I think it would have been worse. It's nice that we made things that we thought would be fun, and the competitive angle has become a possibility from that point".

From inception through to execution, it's clear Fall Guys has been an evolving process. Although some have questioned how Mediatonic can make it into an esport, the number of official and unofficial tournaments that are popping up show it can be done. How much longer will it really be until we get a Fall Guys World Championship? Watch this space Fall Guys fans.
