It's battle of the titles, as new rumours suggest a Fall Guys and Fortnite crossover could be on the way. While Epic Games' battle royale favourite has the jump on Mediatonic's cutesy party game by a fair few years, that hasn't stopped the pair going head to head in the global pandemic. Although both Fall Guys and Fortnite are going for a different demographic, they've been praised for their animated aesthetic that appeals to kids and adults alike.

Despite Fall Guys starting strong and flying to the top of the Twitch charts, even we'll admit we've lost a bit of interest in how the game is developing. On the other end of the spectrum, Fortnite Battle Royale is currently in Chapter 2 Season 5 and continues to surprise with just how popular it is. It's clear Fortnite has no plans to call it a day any time soon, and even if Fall Guys' biggest critics are calling it a "dead game", those bouncing beans aren't taking it lying down. Could a crossover for the ages unite these two gaming giants?

What's the Fall Guys x Fortnite crossover rumour?

According to notable Fortnite leaker @FNLeaksAndInfo, the crossover would bring some of the most iconic Fortnite characters to Fall Guys. Looking in the back end of Fall Guys, there's a mention of Llama, Cuddle Team Leader, Peely, Bunny Brawler, and Ripley - with some clear nods to Fortnite. Since Fall Guys first hit the scene, it's become known for regularly dishing out the crossover skins, with Team Fortress 2DOOMSonic the Hedgehog, and even Untitled Goose Game making their mark.

Fortnite is no stranger to crossovers and has covered everything from the work of Christopher Nolan to a John Wick tie-in, the might of Marvel to Travis Scott. A Fall Guys crossover would also neatly cue up the ongoing storyline of "The Loop". The crux of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 has seen Agent Jonesy recruiting various hunters to track down characters escaping their loop. There are various theories that the whole game itself is in a loop, which could lead to the reintroduction of the original map. It remains to be seen whether Epic will give players what they want.

When could we see a Fall Guys and Fortnite crossover?

In case you weren't already convinced, HYPEX also corroborated the idea that we're on the cusp of a Fall GuysFortnite crossover. In terms of when we could see the potential collaboration, @FNLeaksAndInfo said the inclusion of Bunny Brawler might hint at an Easter release. It's unclear whether Fortnite will also include a crossover skin, but it would look a little odd to see the map infested by Fall Guys beans. Even if there are critiques that Fall Guys has slipped from its previous position, it still has a concurrent player base of 10,000.

Fall Guys fans have been calling for the inclusion of Fortnite weapons and vehicles to mix up the way the game plays, but ultimately, it's a logistical nightmare that just wouldn't work. Then again, Mediatonic has promised to keep its game evolving, so we could technically see a limited-time mode that adds a battle royale element to the party game. It looks increasingly likely a Fall Guys and Fortnite crossover is on the way, we'll have to wait for the official word. Considering both games are experts at cryptic teases, you can expect it will be fun finding out what's going on.
