Fall Guys Already Has Cheaters, But They Won't Last Much Longer
It was only a matter of time until people started trying to cheat at Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, but don't worry, it looks like Mediatonic is clamping down on wannabe tricksters. If you've been keeping up with Fall Guys' runaway success, you might've seen the frankly odd sight of hacked beans zipping across the map.
Hackers have been exploiting the mechanics of Fall Guys to give their avatars a speed boost and tricks like gaining immunity to being knocked back. The official Fall Guys Twitter said, "It’s now no longer necessary to report individual cheaters. Since we’ve been tuning our detection criteria we’ve noticed a large drop in cheaters – getting better! A huge thank you to everyone who has been playing the game fairly, you’re all awesome, and we love you!”
If you want to see cheaters in action, check out footage of one (fall) guy royally stuffing it up. In the clip, you can see he's hacked the game to go super fast and avoid bumbling round the screen when he's hit by something. Even then, he has a clear streak ahead of everyone else and STILL manages to miss the crown. Now, that's what you call karma.
The latest move is part of a wave from Mediatonic's promise to nip cheating in the bud Gamestat isn't the most reliable source out there, but according to the site, there are currently 8.2 million of us who are obsessed with tumbling round that inflatable pitch. As Fall Guys tops 8,000,000 players, it's best to act now. When it comes to battle royale games like Fortnite, there have been continuous complaints about its banning protocols and Anti-Cheat in general.
Even though Mediatonic taking the hassle out of reporting cheats sounds like a great idea in general, it might be one that's a little too optimistic. Mediatonic says it has "noticed a large drop in cheaters”, but wouldn't wouldn't reveal the exact number of jelly beans who've been booted off the map.
Even though Fall Guys might look like a cute game where everyone has a bit of fun, let's not forget it's still a competitive battle royale bonanza where EVERYONE is out for the crown.
That still doesn't give cheaters the right to try and ruin everyone else's fun, because at the end of the day, that's what it is - a bit of fun. Although there are already talks about the potential of turning Fall Guys into an actual professional esport, it's nothing more than a (very successful) battle royale rumble for now. Fall Guys cheaters had better watch out though - you've all been warned.
