The ESL has announced their official 2021 calendar for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports, with eight events and $5,000,000 up for grabs. Alongside the events, the ESL also announced a brand new Pro Tour studio that is being built to "assist in aiding players travel fatigue and better their health", whilst accommodating for all COVID-19 guidelines.

The eight events will be hosted around the world, with a huge amount of money up for grabs. Starting in February, teams will battle for a whopping $1,000,000 prize pool in the first event, which is to be held on LAN.

The full calendar looks like this:

The calendar is designed to have a lower density of matches, meaning less time spent away from home and more preparation behind the biggest events. With player fatigue being prominent throughout 2020, the ESL has reduced the number of events, and varied the significance of each event to weigh more significance on different competitions throughout the year. This intends to better the players' mental wellbeing and to avoid burnout, whilst still maintaining the hugely competitive atmosphere that CS:GO has developed over the years.

Alongside the calendar, the ESL announced their new studio, which intends to further assist in players health, especially by following COVID-19 guidelines. As these events will all be on LAN, the upmost importance is placed upon keeping players safe. The ESL describe this as a "brand new dedicated ESL Pro Tour Studio that will host the group stages of our tournaments and become a Covid-compliant central hub for all of our ESL Pro Tour events," in their blog post.

They continue to state: "It will feature all of the latest Intel technology along with 240Hz monitors, height adjustable tables, anti-flash smart glass, rotating players booths and more."
