Christmas has come early for gaming fans as Epic Games is giving away 15 titles for absolutely nothing. As publishers vie for our attention, the likes of Epic Games and Steam lock horns with their storefronts. While Epis is best-known for birthing the battle royale behemoth that is Fortnite, the Epic Games Store has a lot more on offer if you know where to look.

Although we're busy chugging through Cyberpunk 2077Assassin's Creed ValhallaSpider-Man: Miles Morales and any number of AAA games that have come out recently, let's remember there's more to the world of gaming than just the latest big releases. Announced on the official Epic Games site, the "15 Days of Christmas" will kick off on December 17 alongside its own holiday sale. All downloads are for PC, and be warned, you'll only have 24 hours to claim your free game(s).

The Epic Games sale will offer up to 75% off some of its biggest games, while others will be completely free. At the moment, Epic is already giving away two PC games for free, offering the RPGs Pillars of Eternity – Definitive Edition and Tyranny – Gold Edition for nothing. Discussing the upcoming sale, Epic said, "Now is the perfect time to browse and add any games you’re interested in to your Wishlist while logged in to your Epic account - you’ll receive a notification if they go on sale".

Epic's free game sale launched alongside the store in 2018, so it's become something of a festive tradition. Speaking to GameSpot, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney previously explained how it actually boosts sales. Sweeney told the site, "People have discovered a lot of great games that way. It's been a benefit for game developers.

"Most developers who launch their games for free on the store found that their sales on Steam and on console platforms actually increased after they went free on Epic because of increased awareness and so it's been a really positive thing and it's brought tens of millions of new users into the Epic Games ecosystem and that's been a wonderful thing for the company".

There's no news on which 15 games will be part of the freebie bonanza, but Epic already boasts a lot of major games. Already on sale, you can pick up Red Dead Redemption IIStar Wars Squadrons, and Grand Theft Auto V for a fraction of their RRP. All in all, it shows Epic is committed to being known for more than just the house that Fortnite built.

Speaking of Fortnite, we're well on the way to Season 5 being one of the biggest yet. Following the massive Galactus event and the game breaking its concurrent player record, we've had the introduction of bounties, the Zero Point being blasted open, and the new Fortnite Crew membership. Despite some claiming it's a "dead game", Epic is doing everything in its power to keep Fortnite evolving.

Either way, gamers should make the most of the Epic Games giveaway while they can!
