There's something about a game being completely free that makes it just a little sweeter.

Free video games weren't always a staple of the industry, but ever since the arrival of Xbox's Games With Gold, there has always been a good reason for gaming companies to just… give stuff away. It's great marketing, and it gets fans hooked on digital titles that much easier, putting eyes on it and the platform it's released on.

Generally, Epic Games are fans of giving away titles to PC players, as though having Fortnite under their belts wasn't enough. It's a great draw for the Epic Games launcher that sets it apart from the likes of Origin and Steam, as they go especially bonkers with unleashing free games to the world.

And in the run-up to Christmas, they've had an incredible roster of titles - and it just keeps getting better for users.

Epic Games Adds Control To List Of Free Games For Christmas

To celebrate the holidays in style, Epic Games have been dishing out free games every single day since December 16, and PC users have been soaking these games up so as not to miss a great deal.

The lineup so far has been incredible, but it's just been improved tenfold - as for a very limited time, you can claim a copy of Remedy Games' Control completely for free.

The New Weird Action-Adventure title is bizarre and full of life, and is one of 2019's greatest gaming highlights. It's more than worth checking out, especially as it won't cost you anything. It might just be the best game that the service has offered yet - but that doesn't mean there haven't been some absolute bangers in the meantime.

Epic Games' Christmas Lineup Is Amazing

Though these games are gone now, as they're only available to claim for 24 hours, some of the titles that Epic Games have offered over the Christmas period have been incredible, and well worth picking up if you could spot them in time.

Christmas day brought with it Arkane's Prey, an underrated horror title by the team who made Dishonored.

December 23 had Vampyr, December 20 had the indie jammer Loop Hero, and even Shenmue 3 got a look-in at the very start of the promotion on December 16.

Who knows what's next for the Epic Games deal, but judging by the past games we've had, we expect the upcoming games to be absolute bangers. Download Control while you have the chance - because you're running out of time.
