Epic Games Could Finally Be Bringing Spider-Man To Fortnite
It’s not like fans really need any more popular IPs to join Fortnite, but hell, they’ll campaign for them regardless. The game is utterly awash with recognisable characters, starting with John Wick and expanding to the worlds of Marvel, DC, and Star Wars almost in a flash.
Fortnite is like a toy box full of action figures of movie stars you recognise at any glance, and for many, that’s what makes the game so appealing. Now, one character who is notorious for hanging (or swinging) into IP rights limbo could be coming to the game.
Spider-Man Could Be Coming To Fortnite
After years of clamouring from fans, it looks like our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man could be making his way to Fortnite. Well, if it's good enough for Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, it should be good enough for Peter Parker.
One of the game’s most popular dataminers has revealed that Epic Games is working on a new character codenamed WestSausage, which HYPEX thinks could be a spin on ‘web slinger’. Plus, it has been revealed that the character himself comes with some swinging mechanics.
The mystery addition’s code comes attached with mentions of actions like Swing Attach Location, Swinging and Swing Jump among others. It's far from confirmation, but looking at the history of these sort of leaks, we could be suiting up for the ultimate Multiverse.
When Will Spider-Man Come To Fortnite?
It’s certainly true that Spider-Man has been a long time coming, but there’s every chance Epic Games will hold off on this skin release for one big reason. The new Spider-Man movie No Way Home arrives this December, and the licensing of the character has likely been dished out in a bid to promote the film.
It’s clever, given the huge popularity of Fortnite, but it’s especially lucky for the studio that the game’s IP cocktail has made fans demanding and excited for Spider-Man’s arrival.
Spider-Man has been a labour of love for Fortnite fans, and frankly, we’re surprised he didn’t arrive sooner. Still, we’re glad he’s coming now.
