The next generation of consoles have had a ridiculous shortage, and it’s no secret. Stock problems have plagued the latest generation of gaming, and it’s caused huge problems for players everywhere. It looks like these issues are gradually ironing themselves out, but it hasn’t kept stockists from buying into the “drop culture” that makes buying a console a gamble, and that’s even aside from the leagues of scalpers snatching up the last remaining stock from right under our noses.

The mixture of manufactured hype and a shortage of semiconductors used in production not only of consoles but vehicles and personal computers has wrought problems on the whole gaming industry. And it looks like the consumer isn’t the only person having issues.

Epic Games’ PS5 Problems

It’s clear now that the stock problems of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S have extended right into the industry. And as revealed by Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, even the gaming top dogs are struggling with stock.

In a statement as part of the ongoing legal battle between Epic Games and Apple, Fortnite boss Tim stated on the record that he doesn’t have a PS5 in his home. He does have access to a console in the Epic offices, but he won’t get to unwind with a game on one of the world’s premier consoles. Sad.

Fingers crossed he can get his hands on a console soon, as we imagine the stress of this lawsuit is the perfect call for some video games to wind down with. Stock problems are driving players crazy, and if even Tim Sweeney can’t get a PS5, it doesn’t speak well to our chances of getting one too.
