Oh? Who's that? The popular battle royale Warzone has started seemingly cross-promoting for its platform game Call of Duty: Vanguard.

While players usually are air-lifted out of the hellhole that is Verdansk after winning a round of Warzone via helicopter, in the current Warzone lobbies winners aren't quite as lucky, with a sniper taking quick care of them while on the rope.

There are several interesting aspects to the teaser. The female sniper is in a historic form dating back to the time Call of Duty: Vanguard is dated in, shooting the players with a dated sniper-rifle as they are ascending to the helicopter. It marks another break in the coherence of the Warzone universe, showing that Activision is much more open with the creative direction of the battle royale, allowing another genre to cross over.

Previously, Warzone had already introduced features such as zombies, time travel, and interdimensional portals while also introducing skins from movies such as Rambo. The teaser now adds further to the departure of a coherent and serious narrative within Warzone. Other competing battle royale games such as Fortnite have enjoyed great success with being open for creative cross-overs, allowing for cross-brand integrations from music and film at high frequency.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is the next iteration of the highly successful Call of Duty IP, bringing the game back to a World War II setting in which several other titles of the franchise had taken place. First pictures of the game had leaked just yesterday. With the constant trickle of news, it appears likely that we will soon find out more about the new title, with hopefully key information such as release date and game features hitting our newsfeeds soon.

GGRecon will of course keep you up to date on all current developments in CoD and Warzone.
