After being crowned as the 2021 League of Legends World Champions, EDward Gaming flew back to China with both hands clasped around the Summoners Cup, a collection of bejewelled sapphire rings, and a huge check over half a million dollars. Fending off the reigning champions, DAMWON KIA, EDG was welcomed back to their home country by millions of adoring fans, tired after a night of street parties celebrating the side's victory.

The spoils didn't stop there though, as the organisation has now reportedly purchased condos for their five-man roster, located in their representative city of Guangzhou - more specifically the city's Zhujiang Future City area.

According to the Sports Business Journal, before the World Championship Grand Final match, EDG promised their players houses if they are successful, and have now reportedly fulfilled their commitment, with each condo being valued at roughly ¥1 million RMB (approx. £117,000).

Alongside a new pad, EGD's strategic partners TCL (a Chinese multinational electronics company) rewarded the roster with an additional $470,000 prize and $11,000 worth of TCL-branded house appliances each - hopefully one was a trophy cabinet...

Despite being a crucial part of the EDG championship-winning quintet, the Korean-born duo of Lee "Scout" Ye-Chan and Park "Viper" Do-Hyeon could face implications in living in their apartments, due to Chinese living laws, although the organisation revealed that they will be rewarded the monetary value of the house, should they not be allowed.

EDward Gaming's victory comes as their first World Championships title, despite being a six-time LCK major winning squad, amassing victories on a regional level since 2014. The organisation also won the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational, and have made the Worlds Playoffs four times before their victorious outing in 2021.

It's not a bad month in the office for EDG players, although here's to hoping that they spend their prize a little wiser than 2020 World Champion, Cho "BeryL" Geon-hee...
