DreamHack has officially confirmed that all remaining esports festivals for 2020 have been postponed until 2021.

There are currently five left for the year; however, they join the four already postponed festivals, as DreamHack are forced to shut their doors until at least next year.

This takes the total festivals postponed to nine, as everything from DreamHack Rotterdam was cancelled yesterday. The full list of postponed events is:

  • DreamHack Valencia - originally scheduled for July 3-5
  • DreamHack Dallas - originally scheduled for May 2020 (rearranged for August to be postponed again)
  • DreamHack Summer - originally scheduled for June 2020 (rearranged for August to be postponed again)
  • DreamHack Montreal - originally scheduled for September 2020
  • DreamHack Rotterdam - originally scheduled for October 16-18th
  • DreamHack Hyderabad — originally scheduled for October 31-November 1st
  • DreamHack Atlanta — originally scheduled for November 13-15th
  • DreamHack Winter — originally scheduled for November 27-29th
  • DreamHack Madrid — originally scheduled for December 11-13th

DreamHack has been working on online esports events in lieu of its festivals, taking over the production of huge competitions such as the Rocket League Championship Series Season X, with such projects still going ahead.

Chief Product Officer at DreamHack, Michael Van Driel, said in a statement that "We at DreamHack stay committed to offering the best esports events for our fans and followers, even if it needs to be in an alternate format for now.

"In order to bring these events to our fans, DreamHack's tournaments will continue to be offered online. It is very important that these tournaments still be played, which provides esports players with great opportunities while also giving viewers entertaining esports to enjoy from all around the world".

Co-CEO, Marcus Lindmark also explained: "The goal for all of us at DreamHack is to provide great experiences at our events, which thrive by bringing communities together for these shared and beloved festival weekends all around the globe.

"We have never had to postpone events like this before — but these are extraordinary times, and the safety of our attendees and staff has never been more important than now".

Dates have yet have been set for any rearrangements of the festivals in 2021, with the uncertainty of when LAN events and festivals will be granted the green light.
