Dr Disrespect Claims Blackout Was A Better Game Than Warzone
Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm certainly has a lot to say about Warzone. His - ahem - constructive criticism of the game is part of what makes his streams so watchable, and despite it supporting his career as a streamer more than any other game, he’s always the first to call it out when it runs into trouble.
And now, while live on stream, he’s suggested that Warzone’s predecessor might have been the better game all along.
Dr Disrespect Says Blackout Is Better Than Warzone
Warzone might be packed to the brim with stuff to do, locations, cosmetics and maps, but Dr Disrespect suggests that it’s missing that special something that makes it genuinely fun to play - something he reckons Blackout had instead.
“Blackout was a fun game”, the Dr says, while on stream playing Warzone. “There was a lot of diversity in the gameplay, I don’t know, the long-range combat and everything. It was just so much more fun. I just think that overall Blackout is a better game.”

He does go on to suggest that Black Ops 4’s battle royale was sorely missing cross-play, a feature that has helped to define Warzone as one of the world’s leading battle royale titles, but for the most part, it looks like Dr Disrespect is in camp Blackout. It’s controversial as the mode didn’t quite work for everyone, but knowing Herschel’s problems with Warzone, it’s no surprise that he’d rather be playing something else.
Blackout was crucial to the development of Warzone, and there’s a slim chance that Warzone would be the same without it to this day, so there’s certainly a lineage of Call of Duty battle royale games - but it looks like Dr Disrespect has made his choice.
And who knows, if he played it enough on stream, the forgotten game mode could get a resurgence of players and popularity. We’re calling on you, Herschel - make it happen.
