Who could have predicted that a Doom Patrol series would be a success? The collection of D-grade DC characters has come together to build a bizarre, quirky, effed-up picture of the comic book universe. Better yet, it comes packaged with enough Brendan Fraser to lure in even the most sceptical.

The show has been a quiet success for some time now, defying expectations and making its way to its fourth season with relative ease. But what exactly is going to happen to the Doom Patrol this time around, and who's coming back for more? Here's everything we know about Doom Patrol season 4 release date, cast, story, and more.

Doom Patrol Season 4 Release Date

Doom Patrol Season 4 was officially renewed at the virtual DC FanDome, with Joivan Wade, Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, and Michelle Gomez all sending in videos to mark the occasion. Hyping what's to come, the cast said: "Things are going to get very exciting with a new fourth season of Doom Patrol. Celebrate with us by watching the first three seasons out on HBO Max as of now. Things are about to heat up!"

Thankfully, the latest reveal for Doom Patrol has updated us all on the show's latest release date. We now know that Doom Patrol Season 4 is set to launch on December 8 on HBO Max. Better yet, it's all dropping at once, so we can guzzle the whole season in one go.

The Doom Patrol team has now died, gone to hell, been reanimated, and eaten the Chief's brains. Still, there's apparently plenty to see from the Doom Patrol season 4 story. Who would've thought it? Supposedly, Doom Patrol season 4 will see them travel forward in time to a future they might not be so happy to see. Because obviously, time travel is the only way to go next.

The team still has plenty of afflictions to deal with, with persistent grief of Chief's death and Cliff's Parkinson's disease, to name but a couple. Though this season looks silly as ever, expect a few more quiet moments to go with it, too.
