Does Fortnite Have Anti-Cheat?
As with any online multiplayer game, Fortnite players are sometimes subjected to cheaters or hackers in their lobbies, who have an unfair advantage thanks to third-party hacking software. This can include anything from wallhacks, to aimbots, and more.
Many developers hear the frustrations of their playerbase, and put in place anti-cheat software to target this problem. Fortnite utilises two different anti-cheat systems, which does not eradicate the issues but does substantially lower the number of hackers who get into the game.
What anti-cheat does fortnite use?
Fortnite Battle Royale currently deals with hackers using two different kinds of anti-cheat systems - BattleEye and Easy Anti-Cheat.
This dual anti-cheat strategy serves the game well, and players have significantly fewer hackers to worry about than in other games of a similar ilk.
How does fortnite's anti-cheat work?
Anti-cheat software detects players who use external cheats, and can be Server-Side (put in place by the developer and operated from within the game) or Client-Side (software installed and ran by the player).
Fortnite's Easy Anti-Cheat is "an anti-cheating tool designed to stop (and catch) cheaters in online multiplayer games", and is ran Client-Side. The company assures users that it is completely safe, and non-invasive.
The software must be installed in order to play the game on PC, much like VALORANT's Vanguard anti-cheat system.
Several other games use Easy Anti-Cheat, including but not exclusive to Dead By Daylight, Apex Legends, and Watch Dogs 2.
Easy Anti-Cheat can be installed on both Windows and macOS, and runs in the background, scanning your computer for cheats, and upon detection, sometimes banning you from the game in progress.
How do you get fortnite to launch with Easy Anti-Cheat?
Fortnite players on PC are required to install and run Easy Anti-Cheat in order to start the game and play, so if you noped out of the installation, here's how to install it again.
