Dev1ce Smashes Monitor In Anger During ESL Pro League Match
Having completed his shock move away from Astralis to Ninjas in Pyjamas, all eyes have been on Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, and how he can transform the Swedish organisation into the heights that he's used to.
However, with just one grand-final appearance on his debut for NiP back in May, dev1ce has not yet made the influence he had hoped for.
Another chance for success has come NiP's way in the ESL Pro League Season 14, where they find themselves in a group alongside top-ranked Gambit Esports, Team Liquid, Entropiq, FURIA, and Team One.
After a loss in their opener against Team Liquid, NiP looked to be closing out the first map against Entropiq, until a few rounds fell in the way of their opponents.
With the score poised at 13-10, dev1ce on the AWP managed to pick up four consecutive frags whilst his teammates dropped around him, and soon was faced with a short-lived 1v1 where his pistol was no match for an enemy AUG.
Just one bullet away from an ace and the momentum swinging in favour of Entropiq, dev1ce forced a tactical timeout by taking his anger out on a monitor screen, fist first.
The dig to the screen was enough to break it, at least momentarily, which forced dev1ce to leave the game due to a technical error.
Ironically, the Danish star instantly had to rub his hand in pain, which could have been more damage than he first thought. Fortunately for him, his lashing out was in the NiP compound, rather than on LAN where a fine would have likely been enforced.
It wasn't long before a fix was installed, and the game was back underway. Despite the frustration, dev1ce and NiP came out with the victory and took the game 2-0.
For NiP, they can only afford one more loss in the group stages if they want to advance to the playoffs, with tough fixtures against Gambit and FURIA looming.
