Someone get the cast of 1996's Twister on the phone because it looks like tornadoes are officially coming to Fortnite. Chapter 3 has pulled the rug from underneath us all, but now, get ready to be blown away by a dangerous new addition to the map.

One of Fortnite's big wins is its constant ability to reinvent. From the overhauls of the map with each season to bigger introductions like crafting weapons, hostile wildlife, and now sliding, Epic Games like to keep things fresh.

If you thought running away from hungry raptors was sweaty, try evading a swirling vortex of death AND the storm circle.

Are Tornadoes Coming To Fortnite?

As we settle into this year's Winterfest, dataminers have delved deep into the code and pulled up a forecast for some stormy weather. Trusted leaker Mang0e has found a tornado in the game files - claiming it takes 25 seconds to form and will last around eight minutes.

Posting on Twitter, they predict a path of destruction where players can be sucked into the tornado - suggesting that everything from buildings to trees will also be caught in its wrath. It's unclear whether tornadoes will be fixed to a specific spot or roam the map, but we're guessing they'll be like the alien ships and stick to one POI.

Players were over the moon that tornadoes are on the way, and can't wait to use Spider-Man's Web Shooters to zip around them. Still, there are some worries, with one person writing, "Those tornadoes are gona crash old gen faster than an Amazon warehouse."

When Will Tornadoes Come To Fortnite?

Mang0e also noted that while they've found one type of tornado in the code, there's a chance different variants could be introduced. As long as we see a cow in there, we don't really mind. Either way, this kind of dynamic weather is taking a leaf out of Battlefield 2042's book

The idea of tornadoes in Fortnite shouldn't be that surprising, especially since Epic confirmed they were on the way. While promoting what's new in Chapter 3, the official Fortnite site said, "Later on in Chapter 3 Season 1, see the effects of lightning and spin around in and get shot out of tornadoes.

There's currently no release date for tornadoes, but if they were discovered so easily, it's likely they won't be that far away. Personally, we wouldn't expect them this side of Christmas because tornadoes aren't exactly festive-themed.
