Cyberpunk 2077 has been through it, but perhaps not as much as its fans. The launch of the sci-fi shooter was perhaps one of the most notorious failures in gaming history, with even PlayStation stepping in to keep it from ripping prospective fans off.

But, thanks to relentless updates and new-gen upgrades, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally in a more than playable state, even if some gamers are still unwilling to engage. It's finally found its feet, with players in abundance looking to the future - most notably its first DLC pack, featuring a new performance from Idris Elba.

Thankfully, it doesn't look like we'll have to wait very long for the Phantom Liberty DLC, as CD Projekt Red is apparently letting you play the much-hyped add-on early.

New Phantom Liberty news coming in June

CDPR confirms that we'll hear more about Cyberpunk 2077's upcoming DLC in June - and fans are expecting that it won't take much longer after that to see it actually launch.

The news was announced in a tweet from the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, that stated "ICYMI, we'll start talking about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty this June!" before revealing that players can actually get their hands on it if they're at Summer Game Fest too.

"We'll have hands-on sessions for press and content creators. We're also planning plenty of hands-on opportunities for our community at a later date, so stay tuned!"

Fans expect Phantom Liberty to launch shortly after June

With CDPR already willing to offer a preview to press and content creators at Summer Game Fest, fans expect that this means the DLC could be coming shortly after its preview reveal in June. Apart from learning that Elba will be part of Phantom Liberty, things have gone quiet on the whole thing.

Unfortunately, just like the recent Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC, CDPR is ditching potential last-gen headaches and is moving forward with Phantom Liberty on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series

It's hoped that the preview will come with a release date attached, and players are praying that it won't be the same deal as the game's original release. Please, let it actually function.
