CouRage Gets Warzone Hacker Banned Live On Stream
Something has shifted in the Raven Software camp in recent times. The developers have opened their front door on social media, providing much more transparency on how the developers are dealing with ongoing problems in the game, and have begun interacting with popular content creators. Alongside much more detailed patch notes, Raven has an ear to the ground and has proved its worth.
This time, the developers came to the aid of Jack "Courage" Dunlop, Timothy "TimTheTatman" John Betar, and Dennis "Cloakzy" Lepore, as they came face to face with repeated hackers.
Courage Asks Raven Software To Watch His Streams
After two hackers repeatedly interrupted the trio's games, thanks to a pesky stream sniping method, Courage took to Twitter to ask the developers to keep a keen eye on their gameplay.
He said: "I think it would be extremely beneficial to have someone watch our live streams and ban blatant cheaters on the spot. Currently, there are two cheaters joining our lobbies and ruining our Warzone experience with about 150,000 live viewers watching."
Whilst many fans argued that "streamers shouldn't get priority or treated better than other players", the deliberate stream sniping added fuel to the debate, plus the fact that 140 other players were all falling victim to the hackers.
Raven Ban A Hacker Live On TimTheTatman's Stream
The trio was a target of yet another attack from the same hacker in another of their games following Courage's tweet. Having wiped out the squad through the use of aimbot and wallhacks, all three players stayed in the lobby to spectate.
Showing off a suspect range of accuracy, the hacker was on course to win another game, until intervention from the devs.
As yet another barrage of piercing bullets rained from his weapon, the player was wiped from the game, as Raven Software intervened and banned the hacker live on stream.
With the ban, the three players and 150,000 live viewers all celebrated as if they had just won an intense game.
Despite this one occasion, hackers have been rampant in Verdansk for too long, and Raven have been ramping up their ongoing fight against them. Maybe, the live bans may strike some fear into those thinking that they can break the game and get away with it.
