Confused Skyrim Player Finds Mysterious Box Called 'Do Not Delete'

Skyrim continues to be the gift that keeps on giving. Even though it's been around for nearly ten years, players continue to be surprised with random and, often hilarious, items they can find during their adventures through Tamriel. One Reddit user was stunned to find a mysterious box for sale at Belethor's General Goods store called 'Do Not Delete'.

Where Could You Find The 'Do Not Delete' Chests In Skyrim?

Reddit user, Mmm510916, stumbled across the strange bug amongst Belethor's "trinkets, odds and ends". They further claimed that they weren't using any mods at the time meaning the item is even accessible for players in non-mod mode.

The strange chests can be found in various locations around Skyrim, including the Jarl's Quarters and Arcadia's Cauldron in Whiterun. One YouTuber has provided a tutorial on where to find the chests across Tamriel.

Some fans commenting on the Reddit post found the bug hilarious: "Damn when he said "Everything's for sale" he really meant everything", another said: "The chest of Bethesda, one of sheogorath's most rare artefacts". Meanwhile, others tried to decipher what exactly the mysterious chests do.

What Are The 'Do Not Delete' Chests In Skyrim?

According to one commenter on the post: "It’s a placeholder item that lets traders have inventories. You aren’t supposed to be able to see it, but sometimes it glitches and appears. You’re also not supposed to buy or interact with it. You can, just don’t put it in unsafe storage or otherwise get rid of it. I’d roll the save back to before you bought it to be safe. People use them to glitch into inaccessible areas".

One YouTuber claims that, much like the paintbrushes in Oblivion, the chests will float in the air and can be walked on by the player. Then, by stacking them on top each other, players can have access to areas they could never normally reach.

As usual, Skyrim continues to provide players with plenty of surprises. For example, one player discovered a new kill move after 600 hours of gameplay and an ex-Bethesda developer said that foxes lead the dragonborn to treasure. With no official release date for the upcoming Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim devotees still have time to find all the secrets of Tamriel yet to be discovered.
