Complexity Gaming's oBo Steps Down From Active Roster
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player Owen "oBo" Schlatter has stepped down from the active roster for Complexity Gaming as CEO and Co-Founder of Complexity Gaming Jason Lake shared during a press conference on Twitch.tv.
According to Lake, oBo had expressed reservations of continuing to live in Europe where the team had stayed the last couple of months in order to compete in the higher quality tournaments in the scene. The decision had been made only 24 hours ago, with the 17-year-old deciding that he wanted to reunite with family in the US. Lake emphasised that no "team drama or fights or arguments" were involved in the decision and showed himself empathetic to the challenges of being a professional esports players a continent removed from loved ones. "It's a decision that Owen had to make for himself," Lake explained.
Lake went on to say that they are trying to find a new team for Owen as soon as possible in order for him to continue his playing career. A replacement for oBo has so far not been announced.
With oBo, the team had been climbing the ranks in the Counter-Strike world on the back of a mix of veterans and young rookies, most recently winning the top tier event Blast Premier: Spring 2020 European Finals. They are currently sitting at firth place of the hltv.org team world rankings.
Complexity Gaming has been in Counter-Strike for 17 years with Jason Lake at the helm through formative periods of the esport such as the Championship Gaming Series as well as various versions of the game. In November 2017, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and CEO of Crescent Real Estate Holdings John Goff had acquired a majority stake in Complexity Gaming.
