With the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, millions of players will be heading into the multiplayer modes to get a feel for the brand new guns and begin their grind through the returning Prestiges.

With a Warzone integration due in December, players will be using the multiplayer maps to get used to the weaponry, and it has been revealed that there will be eight maps to operate on. With six maps returning from the beta, and additional two Black Ops Cold War multiplayer maps will be available.

Cold War Multiplayer Maps - ARMADA

Armada is based on three ships in the North Atlantic. Boasting zip lines from ship to ship, Jet Skis, and mountable turreted speedboats, this 12v12 map looks to be a hell of a lot of fun. It has both long-distance and close-quarters opportunities, where a sniper and submachine gun combination could run riot. Whether you're peeking from a balcony window or ripping your way starboard towards a Hardpoint hill, there's a combination that suits everyone. You can even go for a little deep-sea diving if you can find the time.

COLD WAR MULTIPLAYER MAPS - CARTEL

Cartel quickly became one of the best Black Ops Cold War multiplayer maps during its reign in the beta. With a traditional three lanes, Cartel has places for all game styles, with warehouses and buildings made for submachine guns and shotguns, open plains for assault rifle mains, and sniper towers for those who prefer precision. The colourful map is a fan favourite for both team deathmatch and objective game modes.

Cold War Multiplayer Maps - Checkmate

The other map that will be introduced for the launch will be Checkmate. This map consists of many close-quarters combat areas, with a plane assembly running through the middle of the map. Those who remember the Black Ops 3 map “Rush” may have success here, with the shape being rather similar. Taking control of the centrally located plane will be the key to success here.

Cold War Multiplayer Maps - CROSSROADS

The fourth Black Ops Cold War multiplayer map is Crossroads. In this snowy map in Uzbekistan, your team will have a lot of fun. From Snowmobiles to Tanks, players will be ducking and diving away from oncoming convoys looking to get aggressive. There are plenty of open spaces, but the speed of the gameplay may keep you covered. The best players will control the centre of the map, as this looks to be an assault rifles paradise. Crossroads is a bigger map with each terrain suiting a specific game type, allowing you to play how you want to.

Cold War Multiplayer Maps - Garrison

The Garrison will be a 6v6 map which will be introduced for the first time upon the full launch. From unofficial pictures, this map looks set to be outside with barn-like buildings breaking up the lanes traditional three lanes that are so renowned in Treyarch multiplayer maps. With tanks in the middle of the map, Garrison seems to have some good angles of sight for assault rifles and snipers, mixed up with plenty of places for a submachine gun flex to duck and dive into.

Cold War Multiplayer Maps - MIAMI

Miami has been the most captured map so far. The large map can play host to 12v12 Team Deathmatches of 6v6 objective games. A night-time map illuminated by the famous Ocean Drive lights. Right on the beachfront, you can either flank along the coast, lurk in the shadows, or tear your way through the hotels and nightclubs. Sticking together and having your teammates six here will be crucial, as players can be hiding in the dark. Get ready to trade your teammate's life here.

Cold War Multiplayer Maps - MOSCOW

"With Spetznaz dispatched, the area has gone hot". In the backdrop of the Moscow Kremlin, players will dive into buildings and car-filled streets, with plenty of open ground. The traditional three lanes are rife here, although the centre can be a bloodbath. The metro station in the middle will be where the action really kicks off on this 6v6 multiplayer map, which looks to be an incredible map for objective-based games. With many angles to infiltrate areas of the map, teamwork will be key to trap opponents and stop them from advancing.

Cold War Multiplayer Maps - SATELLITE

In this Black Ops Cold War multiplayer map, you will fight for control of the centre of the map, which is a crash site on a raised platform. Located in a Grand-Canyon-esque desert in the heart of Angola, you will have to have eyes in the top of your head, with opponents on both your level and above you. You can also jump into a Sand Buggy and take over the dunes, swerving airstrikes from every direction, as assault rifle mains will look to take control of the map. It's almost a blend of Modern Warfare 2's Afghan and Crashed from the Modern Warfare series. Take control of the crash site in the middle to win here, just mind you don't get a haircut from a sniper.
