Black Ops Cold War has been keeping fans very busy with new maps. Thankfully doing away with the “season pass” structure that caused a lot of controversy in its day, Treyarch has elected to give out new maps for free, using the game’s battle pass as an extra incentive. It seems to have worked well for the company, but perhaps even better for the player - letting them get their hands on new ways to play for free.

Discussion has been rife as to when support for Black Ops Cold War will end, especially with the upcoming Vanguard pending a release and Warzone teasing that we’ll get to see some hints towards the new game during this season. But, lucky us, a leaker has suggested that Cold War fans don’t have anything to worry about.

New details have come to light about a huge mass of maps that are still to come to Black Ops Cold War, courtesy of Call of Duty leaker TheMW2Ghost. They said on Twitter, “There is still about 12 maps designed for Cold War yet to come. Say 3 each for S5 and S5 [sic], then a bunch post-season. That’s a nice amount of maps. Pretty sure there may be a remake post-launch too.”

According to this tweet, it’s safe to assume that we’ll get three new maps this season, three in the next, and more to come afterwards, presumably when Vanguard is active. Plus, who knows, maybe some of these post-launch maps have something to do with the leaked Zombies Chronicles 2?

Cold War Year 2 Could Still Happen

In a reply to an inquisitive Twitter user, TheMW2Ghost still asserts that a Year 2 for Black Ops Cold War could still be on the cards, despite Vanguard’s long-awaited arrival. “I reported some months ago that they had plans to continue to support both MW19 and Cold War post-launch/ after seasons had ended”, they say in a tweet.

This is an exciting suggestion, as it means if Vanguard doesn’t quite delight fans as hoped (which many fans are concerned about), there’s still something good to go back to if necessary, and it will likely help to keep Cold War afloat for a long time.

No matter what happens, we’re looking forward to some new maps in Cold War- because you can’t have too many, surely?
