After esports superstars Cloud9 signed Ricky "floppy" Kemery, the issue of salary has raised its head. Now, manager Henry "HenryG" Greer is keen to clear up any confusion and make it crystal clear why his players get paid what they get paid. It's a welcome return to the team's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster, that sees floppy back where he belongs.

With his signing being big news in CS:GO circles, fans were rightly asking how much it cost Cloud9 to snag floppy. In an unusually candid move, HenryG confirmed floppy would earn $432,000 over three years. However, when teammates like Alex "ALEX" McMeekin are on an eye-watering $1.65 million, there are questions about the pay divide within Cloud9's ranks.

Posting on Twitter, HenryG explained that floppy has been given a pay increase from his previous contract and there's also a chance to review. He confirmed he negotiates will all signings, suggesting floppy also had a hand in securing his final salary.

Floppy is the fourth member of "The Colossus" and will sit alongside William "mezii" Merriman, Özgür "woxic" Eker, and ALEX as part of Cloud9's starting line-up and revamped roster. Doing some quick maths, floppy's deal takes Cloud9's team spend to the just shy of $4 million - which isn't exactly small change in anyone's book.

HenryG has taken an unorthodox approach to forming Colossus and is remaining committed to his way of building a team. In a follow-up tweet, the Cloud9 manager explained that while he has no issue with rival teams paying all five players the same, he's keen to mix things up and carve his own way in the pro esports scene.

Either way, he's not taking critiques that floppy isn't get paid enough. With just one spot left on HenryG's all-star squad, we'll have to wait and see what he's cooking up next.
