Cloud9 Colossus Sign es3tag From Astralis
Cloud9 Colossus has completed their roster by signing Patrick "es3tag" Hansen from Astralis.
The organisations' European side is now full, consisting of Rickey "floppy" Kemery, Alex "ALEX" McMeekin, William "mezii" Merriman, Ozgur "woxic" Eker, and es3tag himself. The Dane will join the side that is set to make their debut at the Betway Nine to Five 5 $50k playoffs on November 3.
es3tag joins from Astralis, who had recently compiled a seven-man roster after the likes of Lukas "gla1ve" Egholm Rossander and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth took time out to revitalise after feeling "burnt out". With both players returning to the starting line up this month, es3tag found himself expendable and away from the starting roster. Just four months after signing for the European giants, he will leave after his final showdown at DreamHack Open Fall.
"Things have gone extremely fast. I am proud to represent Astralis, I love the fans and I never for a second thought, I would be moving on to a different team this early," stated es3tag. "That being said, what Cloud9 is offering me is something I needed to consider seriously. I love the ideas behind the project, and I believe it will be a team to consider in the top of CS for the years to come. While I am sad to leave Astralis and all the people here, I look forward to the challenge in Cloud9".
Astralis have stated that the two organisations "have agreed not to discuss further financial details of the agreement", which comes after the other four Cloud9 Colossus' players had their contracts made public. With some huge lucrative deals spanning just shy of $4 million, es3tag's addition will see this spend climb even higher. Despite no specific details, Astralis' CEO, Anders Horsholt, stated: "I do believe it is one of the biggest transfers on record".
Cloud9 Colossus will feature for the first time in just three weeks.
