New CDL Ruleset Bans Tactical Rifles And Adds Raid
The Call of Duty League 2021 ruleset is currently being refined like coal churning through the smelter in order to make an ice-cold smooth diamond. With the help of Treyarch and Tony Flame, the players have been trialling many weapons and map game modes in scrimmage matches in order to come out with the perfect concoction of competitively viable weapons.
The latest updates to the list, confirmed by the Call of Duty League website, has confirmed some huge changes to the ban list that has been ever-changing.
Akin to the Modern Warfare era, all tactical rifles have now been officially purged from selection. The Type 63, M16, AUG, and DMR 14 have all been banned from competitive matches. To any casual fans who have been ripping through Verdansk with the DMR, this may come as a surprise, although the overpowering and unnatural nature of the weapons differ from the previous seasons' as they do not make for viable competitive matches.
Old school fans have also been treated to a lovely slice of nostalgia, as Raid has been confirmed to make its official comp comeback, adding it to all three game modes. In Control, Raid comes in expense of Moscow which has been sidelined presumably due to its size and indifferent control points. For Search and Destroy, Crossroads makes way for Raid, again presumably due to its size and difficult bomb site areas. Finally, in Hardpoint, fans will rejoice in seeing Cartel being bombed out with Raid making a full comeback.
With Raid making a return and the weapon pool showing glints of its diamond form, the league looks almost prepared to be announced. Seth "Scump" Abner and Dylan "Envoy" Hannon let slip that there is just over a month left before the season kicks off, although a date has yet to be confirmed.
Who knows, with Raid being the stomping ground of Fariko Impact and subsequently Damon "Karma" Barlow, maybe he will be tempted to make his comeback too.
The ruleset has some rough edge to refine, especially in terms of the Assault Rifle department. The AK-47 and certain Barrels have made for rife debate in recent weeks, so expect some more updates in the near future.
