What is it with battle royale games and plagiarism this year? We saw it first in Fortnite’s Imposters mode, which took obvious notes from Innersloth’s Among Us and has only recently attributed them with their due credit.

It was quite dramatic at the time, and Epic Games received a lot of heat for it back then. Though Epic has now made it right by crediting Innersloth, the team is still in hot water with fans. And now, Call of Duty is taking influence from another game for its latest mode.

Scream Deathmatch Is Basically Just Dead By Daylight

The new mode that helps usher in Scream’s Ghostface to the game in Black Ops Cold War has drawn criticism by looking very similar to the standard game mode in Dead by Daylight. The mode was leaked by HeyImAlaix, who shared a series of screengrabs from the game.

The aim of the game is, as a survivor, to hide from the two killers until the end of the round. Alternatively, you can eliminate both killers as the final survivor. Though there are some noticeable differences, it’s very clear that Dead by Daylight has served as a great influence for the mode - especially as it uses a horror movie icon to sell the new gameplay style.

But, this isn’t all when it comes to spooky new game modes for Black Ops Cold War.

Infected Is Coming To Black Ops Cold War

Notorious as a fan-made mode before Call of Duty officially adopted it, Infected is making its way to Black Ops Cold War. The mode sees one infected player attempting to 'turn' surviving players with a melee kill, whereupon they’ll join the team of infected. The aim of the game is to stay alive and resist the infection, killing as many infected as you have to in order to do it.

The mode is one that fans love, and it’ll be a treat to see it return in Cold War - as well as the new Scream Deathmatch mode. All in all, it looks like things are going to be pretty spooky in Call of Duty for the next month.

As for Scream Deathmatch, we don't think it's quite close enough for Treyarch to give Behaviour Interactive the nod. Still, remembering Ghostface has also been a killer in Dead by Daylight, this one might be a little close to the "bone" for some.
