Call of Duty’s Chronicles DLC might be their best ever. It might be a controversial opinion, but hear us out.

Zombies was once a long-neglected series that had its merits, but often fell to the side of the series’ massive multiplayer offerings, and some brilliant maps would end up lost to time in previous games, despite the huge cult following of the lumbering, shifting mode.

Luckily, developers came in clutch with the DLC pack that brought back every historical Zombies map with new twists and turned Black Ops 3 into the one-stop-shop for the undead Call of Duty experience.

Fans have wondered if we’d ever get a new pack, remastering the likes of Tranzit and Town, but now, it looks like we’ve got some form of confirmation. Chronicles 2 is coming.

It’s finally coming! According to sources that have reported to notorious leaker Tom Henderson, Chronicles 2 has been in development for several years, and the remastering and retouching process has worked through the majority of included maps. He assures fans in a post on DualShockers that Treyarch aren’t pulling the trigger on the new Chronicles pack until it’s genuinely needed, and given the success that Black Ops Cold War has seen, this might not be soon.

But, Henderson has a theory about when it could see the light of day.

Chronicles 2 Could Come With Vanguard, Says Henderson

Henderson reckons that if the Chronicles 2 DLC will come at any time, it’ll be during the life cycle of the upcoming Call of Duty title, Vanguard. Though the game is set to have a World War 2 setting, there’s a chance that Chronicles is something that could save fans who miss the more modern settings of the series.

“Despite the murmuring, Vanguard will inevitably sell millions of copies and will almost certainly outsell Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042”, says Henderson. “However, Activision’s goal is to not only sell copies but to keep those players engaged and to keep on spending. That’s why Zombies Chronicles 2 is likely to release sometime in mid-2022.”

Regardless of when the pack is coming, we can’t wait to get our mitts on it. A short, sharp blast of nostalgia is always welcome, especially when it comes shambling and peeling 2x4s off of broken doors and windows.
