Call Of Duty: Warzone Is Adding Donnie Darko's Frank
All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces. If you thought Call of Duty was done with its out-there Warzone crossovers, it turns out Judge Dredd isn't the strangest addition to the battle royale favourite. In a move no one expected, it sounds like a Donnie Darko crossover is next on the cards.
While Fortnite largely has the market cornered in terms of pop culture crossovers, Warzone has snuck in from the outside to get us parting with our coins. Things started with the '80s action heroes of Verdansk '84, but it turns out, these were just the tip of the Operator iceberg. Still, was anyone expecting a nightmarish bunny rabbit?
Is Donnie Darko's Frank coming to Warzone?
The latest scoop comes from noted dataminer @_Nanikos_, who has unearthed some interesting code lurking in the bowels of Warzone. There appears to be a range of cosmetics that could be part of a bundle - with Frank the Rabbit looking like an Operator skin.
For those who haven't watched Richard Kelly's 2001 movie, Donnie Darko featured Jake Gyllenhaal as the titular Donnie. His world was torn apart by a horrifying turn of events, where he was also haunted by a giant rabbit called Frank.
With Season 5 Reloaded kicking the action up a notch, we're also looking ahead at Season 6 and what's on the way with this year's "All Hallow's Eve event". 2020 celebrated "The Haunting of Verdansk" with cameos from Saw's Billy the Puppet and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface, however, we might be about to populate the map with a horde of Franks.
Are more Halloween skins coming to Warzone?
Frank is all well and good, but others will likely be over the moon that Scream's Ghostface could also be hiding in the shadows. The synonymous slasher since Wes Craven's first movie in 1996, Ghostface has had plenty of different men and women beneath the mask. As well as Ghostface being a killer in Dead by Daylight, the fact a fifth Scream movie on the way means now is a great time to cash in on Ghostface's hype.
Players have been calling for "The Haunting of Verdansk" to return, and giving us a treat instead of a trick, Raven Software seems to be making good on this one. In terms of what else to expect, there's a chance we ditch the standard PvP experience in favour of a terrifying PvE one, and come on, it wouldn't be Halloween without some Call of Duty Zombies. As for the Donnie Dark crossover... don't have nightmares!
