Hacking, though rife in Call of Duty: Warzone, was once thought to be for the most intelligent and conniving of players. They’re the greatest antithesis to gamers who just want to play a game or two in Verdansk - taking the unfair advantage and dominating BR games across the globe.

Raven has promised that it's working on a new cheating fix for Warzone, but it could be some time before the hackers are weeded out. But as it turns out, the game’s high-end cheats aren’t just for the moody hoodies with Guy Fawkes masks. They’re available to the highest bidder.

Why are Cracked Warzone Accounts Selling For Thousands?

Interestingly, hacks are becoming a particularly hot commodity in the face of Raven’s pushback, as some ‘cracked’ accounts are being sold for incredible sums. An underground market has appeared, that is selling accounts that not only come with hacks and cheats, but also with high-end cosmetics.

Motherboard has learned that some accounts with the super-rare Damascus weapon skin are selling for upwards of $2,000. Blimey.

The fact that some hacked accounts are selling to anyone who wants them is concerning, as it suggests that hacks will be around for as long as there’s a market for them. Now, some new facts are threatening this.

Hackers Are Running Out Of Accounts To Sell

As a result of new restrictions on account security, hackers are running out of cracked accounts to flog to wannabe hackers. In fact, one of the Discord servers infiltrated by Motherboard was getting desperate.

“Since accounts are in short supply due to security measures changing, we’ll now be offering a variety of unlock services. In short, we can help you unlock pretty much anything in [Modern Warfare or Black Ops Cold War]” one seller announced.

This is a sign that things could be getting better. The lack of accounts that has led hackers to offer their services in other players' accounts suggests that the backlog is thinning. Hopefully, there will be fewer uber-hacked accounts prevalent in-game. This is good news, and hopefully, it can be kept up. Maybe in some not-so-distant future, the cheater pushback war will be over.
