Call Of Duty Players Furious About Warzone Crashes

It's out with the old, in with the new for Call of Duty, as Activision kicks off Warzone Season 3 in style. While the idea of Verdansk being nuked to kingdom come was possibly the worst kept secret since Black Ops Cold War was finally unveiled, it didn't stop you from parachuting onto the map in your droves. As players sought shelter on Rebirth Island and zombies ran rogue on the main map, the powers that be had no choice but to nuke the OG map sky-high.

Although any CoD live event sees the player count skyrocket, there was no accounting for the runaway success of the Nuke event. Verdansk has officially fallen, but it turns out it wasn't just the government that wanted to obliterate the map. Furious players are left hurling their controllers at the screen and are suitably p*ssed at a number of game-breaking issues. Raven Software, you've done it again.

What's going on with Call of Duty: Warzone crashes?

Posting on social media, there was a mix of angry and not-so-surprised reactions to game crashes surrounding the Nuke event. While some were planning their own assault on Activision HQ, others said they've come to expect nothing less from the troubled battle royale title. We've heard about a potential nuking of Verdasnk since the start of Season 2, meaning developers have had more than enough time to reinforce servers and expect this kind of uptick in players. It's not like this is Raven's first rodeo.

The playlist update went live yesterday and went with the cryptic title of "The Destruction of Verdansk Part 1". Rounds start like any other, but as a giant bar warns "SURVIVE" and the map is overrun with ominous music, Containment Protocol Level 1 is activated, and you have to seek shelter. When the bar reaches 100%, Verdansk is supposed to fall and a cutscene plays. Unfortunately, not all of us get there, with growing reports of crashes around the seven-minute mark.

What's next for Call of Duty: Warzone?

We'd always expected there to be a few teething problems, but with Activision hyping the Nuke event as one to watch, you might've thought an army of devs would be on hand to make sure this kind of thing wasn't a problem. However, as stim glitches, clipping inside walls, and matches ending before you've even jumped out the plane have shown, Warzone doesn't exactly have a clean report card when it comes to problems in-game.

With so many players still clambering over each other to get into Warzone, we hope the boom in player numbers dies down or the team manages to fix the game crashes soon. Otherwise, the shine of the superstar Season 3 might be hit with its own "bomb" of negative reviews. Still, with reports of a trip back in time and the introduction of the long-rumoured 1980s map to tie into Black Ops Cold War, we can't wait to see what's next for Warzone
