Call of Duty: Vanguard is around the corner with only two weeks to go until launch, and in a display of effective viral marketing, Activision set up a wall of zombie heads in the middle of London that terrified passers-by.

How Are Zombies Terrifying People In Real Life?

A video of the viral stunt was posted to the Call of Duty social media accounts, in an attempt to promote the zombies' mode coming to Vanguard. In the video, we see a team setting up a wall on a London street that reads “happy hunting,” before adding a series of Nazi zombie heads mounted to trophy boards.

Throughout the video, there are plenty of onlookers curious about the display, attempting to get up close to touch the zombie heads and take selfies. The heads appear to be animatronic though, as many of the people in the video get quite a fright when the heads scream or suddenly jolt toward them. At one point, even a beautiful doggy gets a shock, before launching into a barking frenzy at the heads - what a good boy!

Some of the heads also shoot jets of water and blood out of them. We only see the blood once, but it sprays a person in a plain white shirt attempting to investigate one of the zombies. We sure hope the shirt wasn’t new…

In total, the video makes for an entertaining watch, and an effective marketing attempt with some harmless pranks thrown in.

What Do We Know About COD: Vanguard Zombies?

Some fans who have seen the video have speculated that setting the event in London was a hint toward a map for the upcoming mode. In Call of Duty: WWII there is a London docks map which could be getting a zombie's rework, much like Nuketown has in the past.

So far, Activision has released some information on the new zombie's mode, such as news that it will follow the Dark Aether storyline which was introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Plus, there will be demons, so maybe DOOM guy didn’t quite get them all now he's busy with Smash.

The only confirmed map so far is a Round-Based map called Ritual of the Dead, which will be available after launch on November 23 as part of Season 1 of Vanguard. There will be other maps available on launch, though none of them will be part of the classic Round-Based mode. Instead, a new mode is being introduced that has been described as a mixture of Outbreak, Onslaught, and Round-Based.

We also have a guide for all the information you’ll need on Vanguard zombies before release.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is set to release on November 5 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and select PC storefronts.
