Call of Duty: Vanguard Teases Massive Modern Warfare Connection
Call of Duty: Vanguard hype is finally about to come to a head. After months of Vanguard leaks, rumours and teases, we’re finally about to reach the peak and see a full game reveal this week. The game is set to shake up what we know about the series and World War II shooters in one fell swoop, and fans are curious to see what’s in store with the new title.
The game’s first teases have come as part of a swathe of tiny, bite-sized, peeks that have spread across Twitter. But curiously, some fans have identified a connection between these hints and another instalment in the Call of Duty series.
Vanguard teaser suggests Modern Warfare connection
Some eagle-eyed fans have pointed out a subtle connection to the Modern Warfare series buried in one of the small teasers released on social media for Vanguard. One of the videos contains an emblem that seems to resemble the Task Force 141 emblem from the classic series, but it instead reads “Task Force Vanguard”.
Many have pointed out this could lead to an appearance from Captain Price (or an ancestor of his) in Vanguard, but this is likely to be untrue. It could, however, serve as one of the tethers between Verdansk and the new Vanguard-themed map in Warzone.
When is the official Vanguard reveal?
It’s not long now until we get the official reveal of Vanguard, and as these mini-teasers mount, the hype seems to mount with it.
The game is getting an official reveal on August 19, as was officially unveiled on the PlayStation store this morning and shared on Twitter by popular leaker Tom Henderson. The reveal is coming at 1:30 PM EST or 18:30 BST, so set your alarms and get ready to witness the start of a new era for Call of Duty.
The game, whether it has a connection to Modern Warfare or was just willing to add a cheeky easter egg, is still looking like one of 2021's biggest. Bring on the August 19 reveal!
