A Call of Duty: Vanguard player has documented a glitch on the Desert Siege map that makes it unplayable. While fans might love Desert Siege, it turns out Sledgehammer didn't account for a Vanguard sandstorm glitch where excessive weather effects and lighting make spotting enemies a Herculean task.

Vanguard Sandstorm Glitch: What's The Problem?

The bug was documented by Reddit user u/A-Red-Panda, and posted to /rCODVanguard. It concerns the map Desert Siege, which takes place in a rundown desert village in North Africa. The Vanguard sandstorm glitch seems to act like a dynamic weather effect - obscuring the map's lines of sight with a dust storm that surrounds everything.

Some older games have actually made use of this in Call of Duty multiplayer, like the Arsenal Sandstorm map from Black Ops 4, and it would be a cool effect on Desert Siege if it weren't a bug. In the video posted to the subreddit, the OP highlights a visual bug that exacerbates the sandstorm effects and artificial lighting to a ridiculous degree. They also seem to be the only one affected by the bug in the video, as enemy players have no trouble mowing them down from out of sight, as friendlies run about the map as normal.

As you can see, the glitch makes the map unplayable, and with no known fix, it has the potential to ruin anyone's game. Bugs happen with any and every game, but Vanguard has had its fair share in a very short amount of time.

Vanguard Sandstorm Glitch: What Have Others Said?

Some seem to think the Vanguard sandstorm glitch makes the map play and look better, with one decrying the constant campers with snipers that litter Desert Siege's corners. To be fair, a dust storm would solve that. However, as a bug affecting one player, it doesn't make for a fun mechanic, and another user rightly pointed out that the dynamic weather from Black Ops 4 didn't receive the most positive responses from players.

Others saw the potential for it in the Xombies' mode, with one stating it "Would be a great mode for Zombies. So scary," while another concluded it "Would be a BADASS zombies map." Activision and Sledgehammer have yet to comment on the bug, and with the Thanksgiving holiday occurring in America right now, expect a little longer before a fix is deployed.

Considering Call of Duty's financial domination over the gaming world, you'd think Activision would have the resources to make the launch month smoother. So far, there have been severe audio issues, an invincibility glitch, and players even found a way to unlock the game's rarest gun skin for free. We won't complain about the latter one, though.
