Call Of Duty: Vanguard Beta Players Deliberately Losing Because Of SBMM
On September 10, the open beta for Call Of Duty: Vanguard went live, giving some players a taste of exciting things to come in the new instalment. However, it didn't take long for some players to find a clever way to get around the game's skill-based matchmaking system. With the game scheduled for worldwide release on November 5, 2021, no doubt the game's developer, Sledgehammer Games, will be working hard to resolve the problem.
Why Are Call Of Duty: Vanguard Beta Players Losing On Purpose?
Players who pre-ordered Call Of Duty: Vanguard were given early access to the multiplayer beta version, becoming the first ones to charge into the game's skill-based matchmaking system armed with their M1 Bazookas and Revolving Shotguns. Although, some players have been losing on purpose in order to find a way to combat the system itself.
Called reverse-boosting, powerful players have been losing battles so that the matchmaking system sorts them into lower-level lobbies. This, then, allows them to plough through the players who aren't as knowledgeable of the game. Sure, it's not against the rules, but It's not exactly fair for players still trying to get to grips with the game. Plus, it will automatically put a lot of players at a disadvantage when the game officially releases.
Are Sledgehammer Games Going To Fix Call Of Duty: Vanguard's SBMM?
Speaking on behalf of Sledgehammer Games on Twitter, Gabe Hernandez said: "We see it all. We welcome it all. We consider it all. Be constructive and descriptive. Share your reasoning with us. We're listening." So, it is likely Sledgehammer Games are aware of what's happening and plans are already under way at Sledgehammer to sort out problems with player visibility.
However, reviews about CoD: Vanguard's SBMM system has so far been mixed. On Twitter one player claimed: "Was going to get back into cod but after watching these Vanguard beta clips it doesn’t look fun at all, sbmm ruined call of duty for me it’s just not the same anymore." However, another was quick to show their support for the Sledgehammer: "Regardless of SBMM, #Vanguard is the most fun I’ve had on a Call of Duty game in ages."
