Call Of Duty: Vanguard Nerf Is Butchering Shotguns
Call of Duty: Vanguard is poking its head above the trenches and is in serious danger of taking a bullet to the brain. The World War II epic is only in its infancy, but already, there are complaints this year's Call of Duty game is stumbling at the first hurdle. Away from Developer Sledgehammer Games waging its own war against hacks and glitches, the latest Vanguard nerf is putting shotguns in its crosshairs.
Despite beta testing and a whole host of die-hard fans checking out the game before it was finally rolled out to the public, it was always going to be a balancing act. As Sledgehammer tries to get a grip of what needs to change, the evolving game is already overhauling Call of Duty: Vanguard shotguns.
Call Of Duty: Vanguard Nerf: What's Going On With Shotguns?
Posting on Twitter, Sledgehammer showed off an impressive 22-kill killstreak in under 33 seconds. This ludicrous display blasted rivals in the face, however, it caught Sledgehammer's attention for all the wrong reasons. The developer confirmed it will be performing a "shotgun exorcism", so be warned, don't expect to mirror this player's moves for long.
Whatever you might think about Sledgehammer and where it should be spending its time, it's hard to argue there isn't something decidedly off with the time to kill ratio in the above clip. Even a sharp-shooting player like Ian "Crimsix" Poter shouldn't be able to pull off the above. It was only a matter of time, but RIP to souped-up shotguns.
Call Of Duty: Vanguard Nerf: What Have Fans Said?
While the tweet was presumably supposed to show that Sledgehammer is paying attention to what's going on in Vanguard, it's massively backfired. Namely, irate players said that an OP shotgun streak is nothing compared to a myriad of other problems. One disgruntled fan wrote, "This game needs more than a shotgun Nerf... * Vital proficiency is too powerful * The spawns are horrendous! * the packet loss on connections There are A LOT of things wrong with your game then just shotguns right now."
Another added, "If you ruin the shotguns, take it from me you'll ruin your game, it's the op stuff that makes the game more fun, so if the one shot shotties are going, are the one shot snipers going too, at least those of us who don't snipe had an equaliser, thanks YouTubers." A third simply said, "Free week ain't saving y'all from halo infinite."
Sadly, it's much of the same. The release of any CoD title is plagued by problems, but we're not sure what it is about Vanguard that isn't generating the positive buzz the team was expecting. In the UK alone, Call of Duty sales have plummeted by 40%, while Zombies has been branded "unplayable" by some. Sledgehammer can hopefully turn things around, but it will need to be quick about it. Maybe prioritising a shotgun nerf isn't the best idea.
