If we told you that the new Call of Duty was a roaring success, would you believe us? Naturally, Vanguard is popping off with fans and consumers.

Vanguard is hanging onto consistent play rates as season one kicks off and recent reports showing this year's CoD shot to the second best-selling title of 2021 immediately.

But it's clear that the game has more of an audience to tap into, as it's opening itself up to everyone this coming weekend. This means you can give the new season a spin even if you haven't bought the game yet.

When Is Call Of Duty: Vanguard Going Free-To-Play?

A free-to-play weekend for Vanguard has arrived, allowing players who haven't bought the game to try before you buy and see what the game's multiplayer has to offer. It was announced in a recent blog post from Call of Duty, revealing the new "free access" to Vanguard's multiplayer mode.

Sledgehammer has promised a go at three different playlists, all themed for the holidays. These playlists include Free Kills (including Team Deathmatch, Domination and Hardpoint on a small selection of maps) as well as Shipmas 24/7, which is a playlist that takes place exclusively on a Christmas-themed Shipment. Obviously.

The playlist has already kicked off, so if you've been meaning to pick up Vanguard, you can dive into a limited version of the game to see how it suits you starting now.

All in all, it's a pretty great early Christmas present if you're a usual CoD'er but hasn't tried out this blast from the past just yet. That's all well and good, but that's not all Santa has in his stocking.

Upgrading This Weekend Gives You Extra Content

If you choose to upgrade and buy the full game this weekend, there'll be more goodies waiting for you on the other side.

If you do, you'll get 10 free battle pass tier skips for season one, a 10% global player, weapon, and battle pass XP boost for the duration of the current season, and all of the 24 Vanguard tiers of items from the last battle pass if you didn't end up unlocking them.

It's a nice little addition to sweeten the pot, and it'll make levelling up through the game's battle pass and give you a nice little edge in Warzone too.

The free weekend is bound to bring some fresh players to the game, and it'll be nice to get into lobbies a little easier too. Noob hunters, rally up - your time has arrived.
