You know the adage - you can’t hate something unless you love it too. Such is the case with Call of Duty, with a dedicated fanbase that hates every move the teams make.

We’ve grown accustomed to this now, but the game’s every product is lambasted by those who claim to love the franchise, but go on to buy it anyway - and it’s weird. Still, as we could expect, the franchise’s new game Vanguard hasn’t avoided critique already, and Warzone remains under fire on the daily from players and streamers alike.

And as you could probably expect, the new Halloween event that offers plenty of new goodies to players, still isn’t good enough.

Fans Are Upset With Call Of Duty’s New Haunting Event

A post in the CODWarzone subreddit has set fans off, as one user has shared a meme indicating their frustrations with the recent Haunting event that has just launched, introducing Scream’s Ghostface to the mix. "There’s a thin line between fun and annoying”, reads the caption. “Raven, I expect u to do better next year".

This has sent fans in the comments into a spiral, caught in the vacuum of their negativity. "Last year’s set the bar wayyyyyyy too high", says one user, and "Raven took the bar and f**king dropped it lmao", replied another.

"The bar for these clowns is already so low and they still consistently drop the ball", says another commenter. "They had all the ingredients for this from last year and still manage to s**t the bed. No nighttime Verdansk. No nighttime Rebirth. A b*stardized version of Zombie Royale. Hell, the only positive thing I can see out of all his is the Ghostface actor, hopefully they add some of what people actually want before this is over." Crikey, they’re not happy.

What’s In The Call of Duty Haunting Event?

Fans have a lot to moan about despite the sum of content they’re getting from the new Haunting event. The update for both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War is introducing both Ghostface from Scream and Frank from Donnie Darko, as well as a wealth of other themed cosmetics.

Warzone has bagged the new Ghosts of Verdansk mode, while Cold War is getting the Scream Deathmatch, a spooky reskin of Nuketown as well as a whole new Zombies experience.

But, it looks like this wealth of content isn’t good enough for the fans of the franchise. There’s a lot to do here - it’s just a shame that fans have taken themselves into a corner to shout at nothing.
