Call Of Duty Player Finds Real-Life Rebirth Island And It’s Uncanny
Warzone, if anything, has offered its series some pretty iconic locations. Maybe once upon a time when Call of Duty was mentioned, you’d think of Chernobyl, or Zakhaev International Airport - but now, it’s all about Verdansk and the gulag.
So, it makes sense that a lot of fans would want to seek out their real-life counterparts. What were once everyday locations have become almost holiday destinations for the most dedicated of fans, and are suddenly a part of the Call of Duty universe.
One fan has even travelled to the real-life inspiration for Rebirth Island, and we have to say - the resemblance is uncanny.
Fan Shares Pictures Of Real Life Rebirth Island
Reddit user Sl4nucrew has shared a series of images on the Warzone subreddit that has impressed a lot of fans, showing off their pictures from a vacation to the location that inspired Rebirth Island. “Didn’t get to play WZ while on vacation for a week but I did get to visit Rebirth Island”, says the caption.
The images show the user’s holiday snaps compared with screenshots of the game, and the influence is incredibly clear. These locations are exactly what inspired Rebirth Island, and some of the spots shown in the slideshow are practically unchanged in-game.
Fans React To Real Life Rebirth Island
Fans in the comment are impressed with the fact that so many points of interest look so similar in real life.
“Be honest, you were confused as to why there were no buy stations”, says user Lone_Star_556.
“There was a Zombies map on BOPS2 that was Alcatraz,” says user sdw008, referencing the Call of the Dead map. “I toured Alcatraz with my wife, and she was freaked out how I knew my way around everywhere having never been there”.
The pictures are impressive, and Rebirth Island certainly seems to be an accurate adaptation of Alcatraz Island. It’s kind of strange to think that Call of Duty fans could know their way around the island without ever visiting it. Field trip, anyone?
