Call Of Duty Glitch Turns Modern Warfare Into Resident Evil 4
A bizarre glitch has popped up in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as the battle royale favourite has switched from being a first-person shooter to third-person. It didn't take long for fans to pull comparisons between this and Capcom's acclaimed Resident Evil 4 - especially during this spooky season.
We've had plenty of hungry zombie action in Call of Duty: Warzone thanks to "The Haunting of Verdansk" bringing the fun of frights to the game with the limited-time "Zombie Royale" mode, however, the latest Modern Warfare glitch lets you actually imagine you're playing as Leon S. Kennedy in the main game's multiplayer. Albeit with a MW backdrop instead of the gloomy backdrop of parochial Spain. Some strange goings-on with the Modern Warfare cameras are giving us some serious Umbrella Corp vibes.
What is the Modern Warfare third-person glitch?
The clip was originally shared by redditor u/Odd-Basket4064, who started with an over the shoulder view during a multiplayer co-op mode. They quickly whipped through a series of AI bots and gave us a glimmer of what a third-person Call of Duty: Modern Warfare could've looked like. Although the video is only short, it's suggested the camera glitch came after reviving someone.
There's no escaping the fact Resident Evil is one of the best-loved entries to Capcom's long-running series, if not the jewel in the crown. Part of what made RE4 so iconic was the popularisation of the third-person over the shoulder camera angle that has since appeared in everything from Uncharted to Gears of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 to Fortnite. In fact, the feature was so beloved, Capcom even added it to its recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.
Is Call of Duty third-person?
No audio, recording messed up. But I had this third person glitch, seemed fully functional with a additional option to switch shoulder camera when ADS'ing. from r/modernwarfare
Apart from the occasional third-person view when driving, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tend to be locked in first-person. Ironically, this isn't the first time a third-person bug has been found lurking in the bowels of Modern Warfare. In September, a similar glitch was activated mid-match. Just like the latest one, it seems to come into play when reviving a teammate.
Although there are arguments that a first-person camera throws you right in among the bullets and bloodshed of a match, there are those who prefer third-person. Also, what's the point of trying on all those snazzy skins if you don't get to see them for yourselves?
As the franchise has continued, third-person has become something of a novelty feature like when you could unlock when reaching Rank 19 in Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is expected to continue the trend of first-person, but who knows, maybe we'll find a third-person glitch in there too?
