As Black Ops Cold War Season 1 concludes, many are still getting to grips with the game, making their way over from Modern Warfare or filtering down the Warzone flight path in order to try and rank up some of Verdansk's deadliest weapons.

However, just as Treyarch is putting their familiar standpoint on it, some eyes have already flittered over towards the next title which is all but confirmed to be in development with Sledgehammer Games.

The creators of Advanced Warfare and World War II are heavily reported to be back as the lead designers of Call of Duty 2021, creating an ad-hoc title that strays from both the Modern Warfare and Black Ops sub-franchises.

With Sledgehammer being adept at both futuristic warfare and wars of the past, the question marks over where they would take their one of chance in the limelight were heavily quizzed.

Now, according to esteemed dataminer Okami, Sledgehammer will turn over another page of the history book, as "Call of Duty 2021 will reportedly be set in the 1950s".

As for the setting, Okami further added that "The Korean War started in 1950 so good chance it will be based around that".

The Vietnam War also commenced in 1955, and such as the nature of many previous hints and leaks were this time last year, Sledgehammer could opt to take a leaf out of Treyarch's locker. With Black Ops Cold War previously going under the name Black Ops: Vietnam before the official trailer, there may be many undivulged paths of the Vietnam War that Sledgehammer could take from Treyarch and develop upon.

Although the Vietnam War would be easier to depict, it is likely that they'll opt to send us through the Korean War in hopes the titles don't overlap.

Sledgehammer has previously been under fire for their titles in the past, especially that of World War II, so they'll have to pull out all the stops this year which appears to be their last shot.
