Breath Of The Wild Fan Discovers Explosive Footrace Cheat
There are few titles that have has as much longevity as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Well, unless you count The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Four years after Nintendo's latest entry in the sprawling saga cemented the Switch's place in the history books, we're still finding handy hints and hacks to save Hyrule all over again.
As we gear up for Breath of the Wild 2, there's still a loyal fan base that paraglides down into Hyrule to complete every quest and best every shrine. Just like any good Zelda game, there are races to test your skills. Love or hate the BotW footrace, beating Konba can earn Link a handy Purple Rupee. Now, one fan has found a way to turn your sluggish Hylian into the next Usain Bolt.
What is the Breath of the Wild footrace hack?
Posting on Reddit, u/Haakon-Loyning showed off their footrace hack that saw them beat Yonba in just 23 seconds. Now that's some speedy movies. If you want to ensure you win the footrace every time, the OP's handy hack takes a bit of skill and some good timing.
Remembering that using a horse in the footrace will get you disqualified, Yonba didn't say anything about using your paraglider. Here, they equipped Daruk's Protection to shield them from the blast and laid a well-timed bomb.
With the bomb propelling them forward, they then used Link's paraglider to get a head start on Yoba. The method is repeated a second time, and voila, you're at the top of Mount Rhoam.
What other Zelda hacks are there?
We could spend all day revealing ways to get the drop on Nintendo devs and beat Breath of the Wild through nefarious means. Recently, we covered a neat trick that lets you use a chicken instead of a paraglider, while others found a way to add Skyward Sword's Skyloft to Breath of the Wild.
Shaving some time off your racing might seem like a minor addition to game as vast as Breath of the Wild, but still, players were suitably impressed by this tempting trick. Writing on the post, someone relived our retro pain and said, "But can you beat the running man from Ocarina of Time?!"
Others claim they'd never even met Konba. One added, "I have put over 600+ hours into multiple playthroughs of this game and I have NEVER seen this! 🤯 This game certainly never ceases to amaze me... 😮". It was echoed by plenty of others.
As we wait for Breath of the Wild 2, it looks like there are still some things left to uncover in the original. If you think you've done all there is to do, why not try the Skyrim mod that lets you turn Tamriel into Hyrule? Seriously, check it out.
