So the time is here. You’ve officially got your hands on Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and you’re about to play your first round of Zombies on the Die Maschine map - but you find yourself staring at an arcade machine filled with some old perks, and some new. Just what is this new exciting addition to Zombies, and how can it help you with your gameplay?

Elemental Pop can be consumed by your character in Black Ops Cold War Zombies but will require one Aetherium Crystal to upgrade. Each bullet has a small chance to apply a random base Ammo Mod effect when consumed initially, but on acquiring more crystals, you’ll be able to see more exciting boosts from the Elemental Pop perk.

Treyarch has already confirmed that from launch day, each player will get six different Zombie perks to crack open, from the Jugger-Nog, Quick Revive, Speed Cola, Stamin-Up, Deadshot Daiquiri and the brand new addition to the juice-filled line-up, Elemental Pop.

In Black Ops Cold War Zombies, all perks can be levelled up through a Skill Tier system. Here is what you will get for your Aetherium Crystals in-game:

1 Aetherium Crystal Upgrade: Equipment damage also has a small chance to apply a random base Ammo Mod effect.

2 Aetherium Crystals Upgrade: Reduce Ammo Mod cooldowns by 20%

3 Aetherium Crystals Upgrade: When random Ammo Mod is applied, it uses the Ammo Mod’s current Skill Tier instead of the base.

When first announcing the Elemental Pop perk, Treyarch said:

“While Zombies veterans will be familiar with the initial versions of most of our starting Perks, Elemental Pop is something different. As we hinted at in our Zombies Reveal Blog, this new Perk is all about Ammo Mods. With every shot fired while Elemental Pop is active, you’ll have a slight chance for a random base Ammo Mod to take effect against your target – an incredibly useful tool for when your back’s up against the wall.

“But what happens when you want to take your Perks to the next level? That’s where our all-new Skill Tiers come in. In Black Ops Cold War Zombies, every Perk can be permanently upgraded up to three levels. Yes, you heard that right: permanently.”

How To Find Aetherium Crystals

So you want to experience all three-tiered perks, but just how do you get your hands on the crystals?! Just level up, keep playing and try not to die - as you complete milestones throughout the levels, you’ll find yourself gaining more and more. As Treyarch so eloquently put it, “you’ll be able to upgrade skills related to Field Upgrades, Ammo Mods and Weapon Classes to help you stay alive even longer as you collect and invest more Aetherium Crystals. Over time, you’ll use these crystals to improve the tools in your arsenal, improving their damage and utility to help you reach higher grounds”.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Happy crystal hunting and zombie killing!
