Field Upgrades featured for the first time in Modern Warfare and were met with mixed reactions. They replaced the specialists from Black Ops 4 and offered a new dynamic to boots on the ground Call of Duty. Some players enjoyed the option to pop a trophy system and a smoke grenade or flashbang together, as they would usually be in the same tactical group. However, others felt annoyed at the inclusion of Dead Silence, stripping it away from the perks. A crucial Search and Destroy ability became usable once per round with the Field Upgrades, and fans have since rejoiced in knowing Dead Silence, or Ninja, will be back as a perk next year.

So, what does that leave for the Field Upgrades if the likes of Dead Silence aren't there?

Well, here's everything that has been confirmed for the Black Ops Cold War Field Upgrades.

PROXIMITY MINES

The proximity mine is a piece of lethal equipment in Modern Warfare, however, they are set to be a Field Upgrade in Black Ops Cold War. The "bouncing betty-like" mine will activate should somebody run over it, although, it is reportedly going to be avoidable by crouching rather than lying down. This will mean they will be less effective but can be used to fully destroy vehicles. It is reported that you will earn one every two minutes.

SAM TURRET

A killstreak from previous Call of Duty games, the SAM Turret is used to destroy enemy killstreaks. With the killstreaks in Black Ops Cold War differing from previous years by being much more frequent, a SAM Turret could be key. Deploying one of these could shoot down enemy choppers and UAVs. The missiles are set to recharge every three minutes 45 seconds.

JAMMER

Again, Jammers used to be a piece of tactical equipment, scrambling players UAVs and radars. Placing one of these will corrupt any electrical devices within a small area, and will even disrupt other Field Upgrades used in this proximity. Resetting every 150 seconds, these could be key to disrupting players knowledge and can be key in objective game modes.

FIELD MIC

With Dead Silence becoming a perk, a counter has come in for Field Upgrades. The Field Mic will increase the sounds across the map, and will highlight enemy sounds on the minimap when in use. Should this be as powerful as it sounds, it will be a crucial Black ops Cold War Field Upgrade for Search and Destroy. It will replenish every 195 seconds.

These are the only confirmed Black Ops Cold War Field Upgrades and these could change between now and the release of the game on November 13. However, as the beta drops and players get a larger grasp for the new instalment, we may see more sneak into the files.
